The Release of the Next Mission Impossible Movie Postponed for a Year Due to a Strike by American Actors

The release of the Eighth Mission Impossible film is facing a significant delay due to an ongoing strike by Hollywood actors. Originally scheduled for June 28, 2024, the film is now slated for May 23, 2025, as reported by Variety.

This delay is a result of the Hollywood actors’ strike, which has disrupted production on various major US films and TV shows since its commencement in July. Negotiations are set to resume after a two-week hiatus, following the breakdown of the last round of talks.

The strike, now in its 102nd day, echoes a prior strike by scriptwriters. It has caused multiple films to experience postponements, including Disney/Marvel’s Blade and Fantastic Four, which have been pushed back by several months, and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, delayed by a full year.

Paramount’s untitled Spongebob Squarepants adventure has shifted from May 2025 to December of the same year. Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch remake has been postponed to an undisclosed date, while its live-action Moana remake is rescheduled for June 2025.
